Course Overview

This course aims to provide a clear assessment and repair of defective roofs, based upon conservation principles.

Learning Objectives

• The causes of decay and deterioration of historic roof timbers
• The appropriate cutting out and splicing of defective timbers
• Assessing the structural implications of removing and replacing defective timbers
• Recording the repairs
• Selection and cutting of appropriate replacement timbers.
